Interstate State Park Elopement

Imagine starting your Interstate State Park Elopement with fresh coffee and cake along the scenic St. Croix River, followed by an intimate ceremony surrounded by glacial potholes! Because that’s exactly what Gretchen and Dan’s elopement day looked like! They chose Interstate State Park (The Wisconsin side) for their elopement because it is one of their favorite spots to visit together!

Their day showcased how local couples can create an unforgettable outdoor wedding experience without leaving the Midwest!

Starting on the St.Croix River with Cake & Coffee

Gretchen and Dan chose to begin their wedding day with a peaceful morning by the river! Sharing coffee and cake at a quiet spot along the water’s edge, they took time to soak in the significance of their day before the adventure began. Oh, and they had the whole beach to themselves during sunrise! (Can you tell we also shared lots of laughs together?!)

Hiking in Interstate State Park

After eating the breakfast of champions, (coffee and cake?! THE BEST BREAKFAST EVER!) These two explored the park’s trails so they could have some peaceful moments to ground themselves before meeting up with their families for their ceremony. They were able to take their time, enjoy the view, steady themselves, and soak in all that nature has to offer!

Wedding Ceremony on The Pothole Trail

The Ice Age Pothole Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in the park! This trail offers incredible views on the bluffs and glacial potholes that were carved out by a glacial river many, many years ago. It’s truly one of the most dramatic landscapes you can find around the area! (And if you’re a history buff, you’ll LOVE learning more about this place along the trail)

Gretchen and Dan chose to have their intimate wedding ceremony along the Pothole trail with their immediate families – and it was important that they chose the early morning hours to get as much privacy as possible! (The fall and summer are the busiest times of year for this park!)
