North Shore MN Wedding

When you think of having an epic adventure elopement, Minnesota probably doesn’t come to mind as a location… but maybe taking a look at Cassie and Peter’s North Shore MN wedding from July 2023 will change that!

On July 31st of 2023, Cassie and Peter tied the knot in front of their families at Tettegouche State Park before setting off into the Superior National Forest to have their own intimate moments!! Are you ready to get inspired by Cassie and Peter’s north shore MN wedding? Keep reading 😉

Cassie & Peter’s Story

Cassie and Peter reached out to me just after Christmas in 2022, after finding me through Wandering Weddings! When we hopped on a call to chat about their elopement vision, I had asked them what helped them make the big decision to elope. Cassie and Peter’s response was: “It feels like many of the traditional weddings we’ve attended have been more for the guests and not the couple. We want our wedding to be a chance for us to celebrate each other without the pressure of being the center of attention and throwing a party for the benefit of other people.”

C+P met through the dating app, Coffee Meets Bagel and the rest is history!! They started dating during the pandemic, which led to them going hiking together so they could get to know each other better! They both absolutely love to travel (they visited Luxenberg and Switzerland in 2022, and had plans to travel to Japan in November of 2023) and have spent LOTS of quality time together through hiking and traveling.

Tettegouche State Park Wedding Ceremony

Cassie and Peter started their elopement at Tettegouche State Park, by changing into their wedding attire in the (quite clean) bathroom inside the visitor center before proclaiming their love and promises in front of their families. Nothing says adventure like changing in the state park bathrooms, am I right?! It was also a great moment for them to take a big deep breath before saying hello to all their family members that were waiting for them. After they got changed, they walked down the aisle (the path to the Tettegouche Amphitheater) and said their I Do’s 🥺❤️ (I’ve decided not to share their private ceremony photos to keep family member’s privacy)

Following their ceremony, we took some formal portraits with their family members and then had a delicious lunch that everyone had a hand in making. I mean, you just can’t go wrong with pulled pork sandwiches!

Superior National Forest Hiking Elopement Adventure

After Cassie and Peter enjoyed lunch with their families, we set off for the Superior National Forest so they could enjoy some hiking with their pup. These two were able to take their time hiking up, enjoying the scenery, and enjoying quality time together with each other. It was important to incorporate alone time into their day. (I also think it’s safe to safe that Nova, their pup, also had a blast!)

We spent about an hour or so here, and we saw maybe one other person at this lookout. They were able to just soak it the joys of their day, with nobody else around.

“We were so lucky to have Sam as our elopement photographer this past summer on the North Shore. Sam is professional, friendly, and talented. She did an awesome job balancing our more traditional ceremony with family and our desire for time to enjoy each other’s company doing things we love. From helping us with location ideas prior to our big day to being our cheerleader on the day of our elopement, we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. Our pictures are gorgeous and beyond what we were even hoping for!”

Secret Beach Elopement on MN North Shore

After Cassie, Peter, and Nova made it back down from the forest overlook, we then drove to a secret beach location that I found just for them (*whispers* this is why it’s important to hire a local photographer that’s an expert in the area *wink wink*). They wanted to end right on Lake Superior and having a location with maximum privacy was really important to them. We hiked down to this beach, and they enjoyed their cupcakes, played with Nova, skipped some rocks, and even got to witness a group of otters squeaking some rocks.

I think it’s safe to say that they ended their elopement day PERFECTLY.
