When you picture an intimate wedding, do you immediately think of mountaintop vows or desert sunsets? Allow me to influence you: this indoor Airbnb elopement in Wisconsin was just as dreamy and intimate as any epic outdoor adventure. Every moment was so intentional. It felt like it was straight out of an A24 film. But better, because this was real.
This couple decided to carve out time this Winter to celebrate their love & relationship. Not with a big party or a perfectly orchestrated timeline… but with something slower, quieter, and so meaningful. The epitome of “quality time”. And as a Wisconsin elopement photographer, this was a DREAM day.
Their intimate ceremony wasn’t just about the two of them, it was about their whole little family. They brought their two sweet kids along for the celebration, and it made the whole day a wonderful memory they all share together.
The snow fell steadily outside, temps stayed well below freezing (classic Midwest), but inside their rented house, it was warm. Golden sunlight streamed through the windows, catching on all the funky trinkets and cozy textures of the space. Every corner had something to look at; all the vintage details that gave the whole space so. much. charm. I feel like I could have spent hours in this space! The large yellow lights over the kitchen island, the hideaway breakfast nook with a cozy bench, all the art! Yes please!
Rather than rushing into anything, the couple spent the morning simply being together. Sipping coffee. Laughing with their little ones. Watching the sunlight bounce off the snowy landscape beyond the big windows. It was the kind of morning that kinda felt like it belongs on a Pinterest board.
They all got ready together. Mom pulling on little one’s wedding suit. Dad buttoning up their son’s white shirt. Was there a pouch break for the toddler? Of course, yes! One of my favorite moments of the day was when their older son helped his mama into her wedding dress. I know for all the years to come she will look at that exact moment with so much fondness. It was a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful wedding days are the ones filled with connection over perfection.
This wasn’t a legal ceremony, but that didn’t make it any less meaningful. In fact, I would say it was charged with intention and love. It wasn’t about a piece of paper, it was about declaring what they both already experienced to be true: a loving, life-long partnership.
It was a celebration of everything they’ve built together so far, and everything they’re still dreaming of in the years ahead. And that, honestly, is what these kinds of wedding days are really about. Real life, being noticed. Celebrated.
They all enjoyed an elaborate charcuterie board together, and the little one downed a bowl of mac & cheese. No catered three-course meal, no formal toasts. Just food that felt like home, and a chance to slow down and be together for their Airbnb elopement in Wisconsin.
Once the kids went down for a nap, we slipped outside to the “back yard” for snowy portraits. The cold was… reallllly cold… but that soft white snow made everything feel cinematic. We took our time. Enjoyed the landscape. Let these two bask in the moment. They were just two people who love to have fun together, surrounded by the most peaceful landscape.
When we came back inside to warm up, these two played cribbage together while the kids napped. (Seriously—is there anything cuter than newlyweds playing cards in the breakfast nook while the snow falls outside?) And then, of course, it was time to cut the cake together. They laughed and snacked on cake until the kids got up.
The whole Airbnb Elopement was filled with little moments like this—nothing fancy, just real.
This day is proof that an intimate wedding day doesn’t have to be in a National Park or another big destination. While those are beautiful too – please don’t feel the pressure to create something that doesn’t feel organic. All you need is you and your partner. An environment you feel good in (maybe that’s a beach! Maybe that’s an Airbnb!) Take your time to soak it all in with the people you love most in this world.
As a Minnesota wedding photographer, I’m all about helping you create a day that feels honest, relaxed, and deeply meaningful. Whether it’s just the two of you or you’re bringing your littles along for the ride, we’ll make it beautiful. Please scroll allllll the way through this Airbnb Elopement, because it’s just so meaningful and special!
