I am so excited to relive this beautiful Grand Superior Lodge wedding day with you!! It was one for the books, and I still feel dreamy every time I think about it!! As a Minnesota elopement photographer, I get to see so many special moments as a part of my job. And this day was no exception.
They say: when you know, you know — and for Erin and Adrian, waiting around for a big wedding day just wasn’t part of the plan. They pulled off a stunning Two Harbors MN microwedding in just four months. I think that solidifies that when you are clear on what matters to you – the magic will flow. (And you CAN have the best of both worlds for your wedding day!)
Erin and Adrian started off their morning by writing letters to each other. It was a calm MN morning by the water, and you could just feel the anticipation in the air when I arrived. They got ready calmly and slowly with their loved ones before meeting on the lawn for a first look. Adrian’s genuine joy when he saw his bride is forever imprinted on my brain. THAT is love, my friends.
After their first look, all their friends and family gathered on the shore of Black Beach to witness the nuptials of these two. The sky provided the most perfect overcast clouds, which made the images perfectly crisp and focused on the newlyweds. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the audience when Erin and Adrian officially said “I do”, and became husband and wife. As a Minnesota wedding photographer, it never gets old seeing the love from family & friends. Everyone deserves that kind of support!
After the ceremony, we headed up to Palisade Head for adventure portraits of the newlyweds, and let me recommend this to you!!
Towering cliffs, endless water, and golden-hour light that felt like it was ordered just for them. These quiet moments post-ceremony gave Erin and Adrian the chance to soak it all in, just the two of them. No timelines, no pressure, just that just-married kind of joy with a side of dramatic Lake Superior views.
The newlywed portraits are always a favorite part of the day to me. It’s that happy I-can’t-believe-we-just-got-MARRIED glow that gets me. And while celebrating with friends and family is a cornerstone of the day, these moments alone are ones that will stick in your mind for years to come. Because ultimately, this whole day is centered around your relationship. The moments spent brushing your teeth together at night, the date nights holding hands after dinner, the concerts you belt your favorite words together, and all the little moments in between. Those moments become the sum, and the joy you experience after finally becoming husband and wife is unparalleled.
We wrapped up their big day with a small dinner celebration at the lodge with their friends & family. Everyone gathered together over food and drinks. There were toasts. There was laughter. And most of all, there was connection. And the beauty was in the simplicity. They didn’t need an extravagant reception or wild dance floor. While it’s a fun tradition if that matches your vibe, Erin & Adrian stayed true to who they are and what they wanted from their big day. Which was meaningful moments with their loved ones while ushering in the new era of their lives as husband and wife.
They laughed and talked the night away over delicious food. And then ended the evening with shots together in true celebration fashion! I loved it!
