Are you excited about your upcoming engagement session, but you’re unsure of what to wear? Don’t worry, I got you! I have put together a list of tips with outfit recommendations and just all the things for you. So, pour yourself a glass of wine, get into the comfiest clothes ever, and soak in all the things to ROCK your shoot!
Long or Mid-Length dresses photograph so beautifully. Try on dresses that you love, and look for a dress that highlights your gorgeous features. I like to add a lot of movement in my images, and so if you think the dress you want to wear is too short if you lift your arms, twirl around, and sit down – consider adding cute tights!
Dresses add such a timeless, romantic look to engagement sessions.
Consider renting a dress for your engagement session!
Pick two or three colors and choose clothes that fit into the color scheme you’re thinking of. You don’t want too matchy – those days are long gone! It’s also helpful to coordinate colors to the season your session is during.
If your session is taking place in the fall, use fall colors like burgundy, mustard yellow, etc!
If your session is during the summer, go with summery colors such as baby blue, white, etc!
You will want to pick something that fits you well. If your outfit is too tight, the images can have unflattering angles. If your outfit is too large and flowy, it can make you look larger than you actually are.
Darker colors are naturally more slimming on camera.
Avoid horizontal stripes.
Try on your outfit before your session.
I always encourage my couples to bring anything that will make your engagement session more personalized for you and your fiance. It can be a hat, flower crown, blanket, a love letter, basically anything that will make your session unforgettable.
However, this is totally optional! The only item that is mandatory to bring is that gorgeous engagement ring!
